Hi Students,
I hope your summer has been as wonderful as mine! I have to say, I think I might be ready to come back to school! I've been busy taking a math class that will help me learn new and exciting ways to get you ready to solve challenging word problems. I'm really looking forward to teaching you all the new things I am learning. I've also been busy taking care of our NEW classroom pets! Oh, you are going to love them. Erin and Maggie have been helping me clean the cage, feed them, and care for them. I've given you a little hint in these last few sentences about what our new classroom pets are...can you guess? I have a fun project for you! I want to hear what you've been doing this summer. I want you to write me a letter. I've emailed your parents my home address. Please tell me about your vacations, any camps you've done, sports you are playing, or fun places you've visited. I want lots of details! Don't forget to use interesting words and make your sentences 2nd grade sentences! I'll be looking for GLITTER words. At the end of your letter, you can ask me some questions too. I promise to write you back if you write me! Can you remember the FIVE important parts of a letter that I'll be looking for? Parents, we will have a casual get together at Laurel Park on Friday, July 13th. We will meet at 10:00 am for the kids to see each other, for us to catch up, and to get some energy out on the playground! Laurel Park is located right off Whitlock Road and there is a wonderful shaded playground as well as a pond with ducks and lots of tables to sit at. If it happens to rain that day, I'll email an alternate date. Hope to see you there!
