Hello Parents and Students,
We have had a fabulous week! My favorite part of this week was hearing all of the Forms of Water extra credit assignment presentations. The kids did a fabulous job on this and they enjoyed their reward of inviting a friend to eat lunch back in our classroom. Be on the lookout for more extra credit opportunities. Below, you will find a summary of our week...
Phonics: short and long i spelling patterns
Grammar: Proper Nouns
Reading: Decoding unfamiliar words with different strategies, summarizing a story (small group)
Writing: Descriptive writing
Math: Graphing and Data
Social Studies: Georgia Regions
I really enjoyed seeing all of the parents this week at Open House. I'm so excited about our year together. If you have time over the weekend, get your child talking about the five Georgia regions which are the Appalachian Plateau, the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Valley and Ridge, the Piedmont, and the Coastal Plains. This vocabulary is new to the kids and the more they use it, the quicker they will learn it. There will be a test next Thursday on the location of these regions as well as the children needing to identify one key feature of the region. We've been going over this in class and the children will bring home a study guide to help them on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
CORRECTION! We will not change lunch times September 14-18, only September 9-11!
Have a super LONG weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!
