Hi Parents and Students,
We have had such a busy, but very productive week! We have had fun playing games to learn those crazy Georgia rivers! I think the children have done a wonderful job of this. We will soon be moving on to learning about the Creek and Cherokee Native Americans and knowing the location of these rivers as well as the Georgia regions will be very beneficial for the students. In Math, we have been learning various addition strategies that will build the foundation for our study of multi-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping. We also have been reviewing the math concepts taught this nine weeks to make sure that the children are retaining the information that was previously learned. Remember, in 2nd grade the students are asked to APPLY their knowledge by solving word problems that require these various skills to be used. The students not only need to know the skill, but they need to know when to apply it! Check out the challenge question below to see how your child does with this!
CHALLENGE QUESTION! (work out on paper, show all work, turn in for a trip to the prize box!) Due Date: Wednesday, October 8th.
On the island of Moola, money grows on trees. Each morning Todd and Tad pick their lunch money from the coins on the trees in their backyard. One Friday, they each picked 5 coins and each had exactly ninety-five cents. However, they did not pick the same combination of coins. What two possible combination of coins did they pick?
