Curriculum Night Tonight!

Hi Bloggers,

I hope to see many of you tonight at Curriculum Night! I want to see if we can stump some of these parents with our questions! In class, we have had such a great time learning all these fascinating facts about the celestial bodies in our world. This week, we will have two opportunities to earn some special prizes. See below for the activities!

Extra Credit Project 1: (Due Date, 2/19...reward: ice cream at McDonald's after school one day!)
Write an informational paper on one of the following topics. You must use the internet or another resource to get your information. Your paper must follow the 2nd grade guidelines for an "exceeds standards". This means you must begin with a topic sentence, write three facts and three supporting details for each fact, end with a closing sentence, and use descriptive and interesting sentences in your writing. There can be no conventions mistakes (spelling, capitalization, punctuation) so USE your resources! ALSO, you must include a printed picture of your topic with the paper. This can be copied off the internet or copied from a book. Good Luck!
Topics: Meteors, Meteoroids, and Meteorites!
An Interesting Planet!
The Amazing Sun!
Traveling in Outer Space!

Extra Credit Project 2: (Due Date, 2/16...reward: trip to the prize box or homework pass!)
Solve the following word problem. Show all of your work and be prepared to teach the class how you solved this!

The cream filled pickel cake at Al's birthday party was huge. Mars got 4 pieces. Al got two pieces. Slim got 1 piece and Jim got one piece. All the pieces are gone. Who got 1/4 of the cake?
