Summer Update...

Hi Parents and Students,

I hope you are enjoying your summer break! My girls and I have had fun playing at our pool and relaxing. Since school has been out, I've been able to focus on my favorite hobby...READING! I've already finished three books and am starting on my fourth today. How many good books have you read this summer? We are getting ready for our exciting trip out west. I can't wait to see the Rocky Mountains! Ill be sure to take lots of pictures to post. I've included some summer ideas below for you, just in case you get bored with going to the pool, playing with your friends, and staying up late! Have fun and let me know how you are doing!

Summer Ideas...
1. Keep a daily journal and try and write at least 10 sentences about something that happened to you during that day.
2. Make a set of multiplication flash cards (or visit the "math facts" site below) and practice your facts for 10 minutes.
3. Read a chapter in your favorite book...summarize what happened.
4. Make a four-square. In the squares, include a main character, a setting, a problem, and a solution. Now use this four-square to write your own story. Share with a friend.
5. Fold a paper to make four columns. Write these blends at the top of each column...spl, spr, thr, spl . Now see how many words beginning with these blends you can come up with in 10 minutes. Have a race with someone to see who can think of the most words!
6. Stay up late and observe the moon. What phase are we in? What else can you remember about the phases of the moon? Write this information on a piece of paper.

Have fun and keep exercising your brain this summer!

Love, Mrs. Wadsworth
