Dear Parents,
This week in writing, we began a descriptive writing assignment using our five senses to describe the month of October. We used the book In November, by Cynthia Rylant as an example for us to follow. In Math, we began looking at greater numbers (up to 999) and various ways to represent them. We also completed several multi-step word problems together, paying close attention to the key words used that indicate the operation. We took a culminating assessment on the Creek and Cherokee in Social Studies.
Class News and Information:
Next week is Early Release! Students will be dismissed two hours early.
If you still have coupon books at home, please return them ASAP. The office will be sending reminders to those families who have not returned the books.
Make sure you and your child go over his/her new AR goal. These goals are now individualized and I am encouraging everyone to read chapter books as well as short stories that are on their level. The longer chapter books will be worth more points. We also read at least one book per week that the children can take an AR test on. I have blocked children from taking tests below their reading level and I've updated their library sticks to reflect this new level.
